California Mobile App Developer Looking
to Hop On Legalized I-Gambling Train
15 May 2009, Staff Writer
California based mobile
handset application provider Hop-On Inc is betting on Barney
Frank's new online gambling laws passing through the House and
Senate and are feverishly developing games for release on the
iPhone as soon as it does.
Hop-on Inc's President
and CEO Peter Michaels is on the record as saying
"...we are in
continued support of Rep. Barney Frank's proposed legislation to
legalize Internet gambling, Hop-on is moving to release an app
immediately after the passing of the bill."
They have already developed free play casino games suitable for
iPhone that have been submitted to Apple for addition to their
application store, and are well down the track in development of
their 'play for real' games. But these will likely never
be added to Apples app store. Rather, they will be offered
as a browser based workaround that users can play from Hop-On's
game site.
Currently, two gaming platform developers offer iPhone casino
games...UK based Probability plc which made news recently with a
platform sharing deal they recently did with mFuse, and Spin3
which powers the mobile casinos of a bunch of Microgaming
licensee online casinos. But with the industry still in
its infancy, casinos offering iPhone games are still few and far
between.
Two that do are
Ladbrokes and
32 Red. However both these casinos do not offer their
services (mobile, iPhone or regular online casino) to US
residents. This could well change if the proposed
legislation that Hop-On Inc is sweating on does in fact become
law.
